Charlotte, NC (April 4, 2009) – Awesome Bill from Dawsonville is a racing legend. He has several amazing accomplishments during his career as one of NASCAR’s 50 greatest drivers of all time. More recently he has taken on the role of mentor and founded the Bill Elliot Driver Development Program. A Hall of Fame driver teaching up- and-comers how to race is something 3 Wide Life could not pass up.

“What a great opportunity to mix old school and new school racing,” said associate producer of 3 Wide Life Meghan Stanton. “Bill is helping out young drivers, including his son, and we wanted to see how his program was taking shape. Anytime you have a guy of his caliber acting as your advisor, you are in a good spot. Many young drivers would kill for that opportunity and we wanted to show our viewers how it all works.”

In addition to the hospitality the Elliot’s showed the 3 Wide Life team, the entire town of Dawsonville played host for the day. The team was given a tour of the town that acts as a shrine to Elliot’s career. The restaurants, bars, and local neighborhoods have all been affected by his success.

“Talk about a hometown hero,” said Stanton. “The whole town is one big tribute to his racing career. During his hay day, the place would shut down in order to watch him race. When he would win, a bell would ring alerting everyone in ear shot what just happened. It is so genuine to see that many people support their guy. We can only hope that a new driver will inspire like he has.”
