Charlotte, NC (May 5, 2009) – People race cars all across the world. They’ve been doing so since the invention of the wheel. In some places it is a hobby, in others it is a job, and some enjoy it strictly as entertainment. In the South, it is a way of life. Darlington Raceway is a testament to that culture. To honor that tradition, 3 Wide Life will feature the past, present and future of the track known as “The Lady in Black.”

“In a way,” says executive producer Ryan Kurek, “NASCAR has gotten away from it’s roots. We wanted to pay tribute to a place that helped the explosion of popularity in stock car racing. We know the sport is facing difficulties right now, but places like Darlington keep putting on an awesome show. The track is a tribute to the fans, who have filled the stands since the first day the place opened.”

Darlington returns to it’s roots this weekend as it plays host the Southern 500. The track has undergone recent changes to its surface and modernized its facilities. It has not; however, lost its Southern charm.

“Since 3 Wide Life is a show about real racing, where better to set up shop than a racer’s racetrack,” said Kurek. “We don’t just cover stock cars, but Darlington transcends any one form of racing. Anyone who knows anything about racing, knows that to win at Darlington you have to have that ‘edge’ that only lies within the best in the business. Take one look at the past winner’s at Darlington and you will see exactly what I mean.”
