Before Danica Patrick started giving dads another reason to worry about their daughters having a driver’s license, Lyn St. James was breaking ground as a female driver competing in the Indianapolis 500. In the 90’s she not only competed seven times at the world’s most famous track, she was also named rookie of the race in her first attempt. After an illustrious career, St. James is now mentoring young women who think they have what it takes to make it as a professional race car driver.

“How cool is it,” said 3 Wide Life host Brittney Cason, “that she is giving female drivers a role model and mentor to help in their careers. She beat the odds and made it to the top. Now she is helping these women from all over the world with everything from driving the car to doing interviews. She helped lay the groundwork, now she is helping them reach their goals.”

3 Wide Life was interested in St. James because of her Indy resume and her Women in the Winner’s Circle foundation. However, after meeting with her she clearly fit the bill as a “real racer.”

“She has raced and won in all kinds of cars,” continued Cason. The racing world is a better place because of her. I have no doubt that someone she is working with now is going to be household name in a couple of years. We are looking forward to finding out who that might be.”
