3RD ANNUAL “GOLD CROWN MIDGET NATIONALS” OFFERS $10,000-TO-WIN

(Charlotte, N.C. Oct. 5, 2011)Five-time National USAC driver champion Levi Jones is ready to get back behind the wheel of the No. 56 3 Wide Life Midget for RW56 team owner Shane Hmiel in Pontoon Beach, Illinois this week. Jones and Hmiel have their eyes on the $10,000 prize that is up for grabs at this week’s 3rd Annual “Gold Crown Midget Nationals at Tri-City Speedway Oct. 6-8.

Thursday and Friday night prelims include 25 lap feature races, with a 50-lap finale on Saturday night. Jones of Olney, Ill. heads to Tri-City coming fresh off his $10,000 victory in last Saturday night’s City of Lawrenceburg “Fall Nationals” USAC/MSCS Sprint race at the Lawrenceburg Speedway.

This is the second event entered for RW56 & Hmiel with Jones as the driver of the No. 56 3 Wide Life Midget since they made their debut together at Angell Park Speedway on August 21. In their debut Jones finished 11th after qualifying ninth. They are returning to the track this weekend at Tri-City with a brand new Beast chassis and car with new set-up points. After the 11th place finish at Angell Park, Hmiel decided to take the steps necessary to build a brand new car that mirrors those of what Rotondo Weirich has been running and winning with.

“After struggling like we did at Angell Park, we had to take a big step back to re-evaluate our race program. If that took taking a few weeks off away from the track to build a brand new Beast car then that’s what we were going to do and did do,” said Hmiel. “We aren’t content on just showing up at the track and running. We want to have a shot at winning each time we take to the track. Rotondo Weirich has been running and winning with Beast chassis’ so that is the route we have decided to take to be able to run more in line with our teammates. We are expecting great things this weekend at Tri-City with Levi back behind the wheel of our new No. 56 3 Wide Life Midget.”
